You have made the decision to undergo a hip or knee replacement surgery in AZ Maria Middelares.
In the coming weeks and days before your surgery, the care team of AZ Maria Middelares will help to prepare you for your surgery.

Your digitally supported patient journey via the moveUP app
Hip- and knee replacements patients are supported by the care team of AZ Maria Middelares via the moveUP application. The moveUP app is used for:
1. Data collection for your surgeon
Before surgery and during your rehabilitation, you will be asked to use the moveUP app to keep track of your symptoms and evolution. You will be asked to:
- Fill in a daily questionnaire on your pre-and post-operative status
- Fill in intermediate standardised questionnaires for evaluation of your surgery outcome.
This data is used to create a report for your surgeon. This way he can keep track of your evolution to make sure you are (still) on the right track.
2. Personalised advice and timely information:
Via the moveUP app, you will:
- Receive preventive exercises: In the moveUP app, easy exercises are given to prevent complications. These exercises are not obligatory.
- Be able to ask your questions directly to the care team: Via the chat you are in direct contact with the nurses of AZ Maria Middelares. Several times per week, they will check the messages of patients. They will give timely advice and answer all questions you might have. After the stitches have been removed, the chat is deactivated.
- Receive timely advice: Information modules are activated at the right time during your joint replacement journey. Before the surgery, the information modules will help you to properly prepare for the joint replacement journey. After surgery, the information modules will help you to better understand what you can expect during and after your rehabilitation.
Price and reimbursement
The use of the moveUP app is free for patients of AZ Maria Middelares.
No plans for rehabilitation?
Via the moveUP app it is also possible to follow a personalised rehabilitation trajectory. A specialised team of physical therapists and doctors will monitor and advice you on a daily bases. Based on the data collected via the application, you will received personalised exercises and advice on pain and activity management. The cost of 40 euros per week is fully reimbursed by the mutuality.
