mHealthBelgium
Het mHealthBelgium initiatief is in 2018 door de overheid gelanceerd. mhealth heeft de intentie om mobiele gezondheidsapps te integreren in het Belgische gezondheidszorgsysteem.
moveUP is de eerste applicatie die de ‘validatiepiramide’ van mHealthBelgium heeft doorlopen en klaar is voor terugbetaling. Op dit moment loopt er een pilotstudie.
moveUP wordt terugbetaald
moveUP wordt terugbetaald door de Belgische gezondheidszorg.
This means both the moveUP app with step counter and the services provided by the physical therapist who treats the patient are now refundable.
De terugbetaling – in de vorm van een conventie – geldt voor heel België en loopt in twee fasen. Hier vindt u een link naar de pagina op de website van het RIZIV over het verdrag.
- In the first phase, 15 hospitals will include patients in a study initiated by RIZIV and KCE. In total, more than thousand patients will be compared on their end result and use of care resources. This phase ended on the 1st of November 2022.
- Since the 1st of November reimbursement is opened up to every primary knee or hip prosthesis patient.
Verplichte fysieke sessies
Patients follow rehabilitation using the mobile application with a set minimum number of conventional physical therapy sessions in the physical presence of the physiotherapist (1 session a week for the 1st month, 1 session every 2 weeks thereafter.
Hoe werkt moveUP?
moveUP provides a physiotherapeutic rehabilitation program for patients that undergo a knee or hip replacement surgery and ACL reconstruction. The app serves as digital support for the patient throughout the full patient journey to improve the quality of care.
Through the application, patients are treated remotely with the app by means of questionnaires, exercise instructions by videos, and activity measurements in real time. It provides a multi-disciplinary approach, with physical therapists, doctors, and surgeons being able to work and communicate through the platform.
In this way, it is possible to personalize the rehabilitation of the patient based on the objective and subjective data obtained. Complaints or complications can be detected at an early stage and, if necessary, action can be taken to ensure rapid improvement.

How can a physical therapist provide his or her reimbursed services through the app?
You, as a physical therapist can provide your services to the patient in the convention study through one of the 2 ways:
- Alleen fysieke sessies — Er is een minimum aantal verplichte fysieke sessies of fysieke sessies op indicatie voorzien. Niet alle kinesitherapeuten voelen zich op hun gemak om een patiënt digitaal op te volgen, maar zijn geïnteresseerd in deelname aan de conventie. In dit geval wordt de digitale follow-up opgenomen door een gecertificeerde kinesitherapeut (gespecialiseerd in telerevalidatie) of door een kinesitherapeut van het ziekenhuis waar de patiënt is geopereerd. U sluit zich dan aan bij de conventie als onderdeel van het medische team van de patiënt en zorgt voor de kinesitherapiesessies.

U doet mee als ‘hoofd’ kinesitherapeut. Als kinesitherapeut neemt u volledig deel aan de conventie. U zorgt voor de dagelijkse, digitale begeleiding van de patiënt, evenals de mogelijke kinesitherapiesessies. U kan de nomenclatuurnummers van forfaitaire som 3 attesteren.
